Letting Love Win the War

We are definitely in a war. The Bible teaches us that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, natural weapons, but ones that are mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds.

Part of growing closer to God is working with the Holy Spirit in pulling down the strongholds of selfishness, pride, and self-importance. Purposely taking the focus off of ourselves and doing something for someone else while we are hurting is one of the most important things we can do to overcome evil.

When Jesus was on the cross in intense suffering, He took time to comfort the thief next to Him (see Luke 23:39–43). When Stephen was being stoned, he prayed for those stoning him, asking God not to lay the sin to their charge (see Acts 7:59–60).

If the church of Jesus Christ, His body here on earth, will wage war against selfishness and walk in love, the world will begin to take notice.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I know that walking in love is super important when fighting the battle against selfishness. Help me to always remember that and rely on You for help, amen.

  1. Amen. I agree mama Joyce, selfishness & pride is two things that got Lucifer to be chased out of heaven & the awesome place he held around God’s throne. In his own selfish ambition to rise above God, he deceived angels to compromise their duty which was to listen & obey God. What did he get for his retaliation? To be casted out of heaven & becoming dirty. If your heart is filled with hate & strife, you cannot serve God. As God is love. If one dwell in God, one will love, even the enemy. To love is to obey God, as the Word says we need to love our neighbor like ourselfs & our neighbor is those surrounding us, not specifically our next door neighbor. The moment we acknowledge sin & repent with broken & contrite heart, love fills us up & hate disappears together with all other sins of the flesh. Love conquers all. The more we love, the more we please God & the more He will & shall answer prayer. Mama Joyce, you are an inspiration to me. I’m a white South African woman with a heart for the nations & souls. God bless you for what you are doing, you & your husband & helpers. I pray you will still be with us for a long time as many lessons could be taught if the ears are willing to listen & the hearts willing to be conformed to Christ. Love you Mama Joyce.
